The outfits from the 1960s for both men and women are easy to distinguish. They always included brightly colored fabrics with unusual styles and patterns. Long flared skirts, peasant tops, hip-hugging bell bottom pants and long Indian dresses can still be found at flea markets and thrift shops across the country. The men wore leather vests and sported long hair and lots of beards, unkempt, of course. Any kind of tie dye garments were “in” as well as colorful headbands and tees.
The sixties gave us a lot of things that have stayed with us. For example, the fusion of folk music with the blues, folk and psychedelic rock. Accessories like Native American jewelry and lots of beads, colorful head bands and scarves were popular. And “Feeling Groovy” was the ultimate ambition as well as a hit song title. Enjoy reminiscing.
